With a background in secondary teaching, college instruction and adult education, I feel uniquely qualified in the fields of instructional design and training. I have developed curricula for high school (including Advanced Placement), college (lecture and laboratory) and corporate training (a/synchronous online, eLearning and synchronous classroom) courses. Degrees in Education (BS) and the Sciences (MS), industry certification in ISD, and almost a decade as a Technical Training Manager for two companies have afforded me countless opportunities to challenge and sharpen my skills.
Setting standards for a College Board-sponsored exam
Linked to this page below is a diverse sample of projects, created under the umbrella of instructional design, that I have developed over the years. I hope you see in this work, along with my work throughout this website, themes that include:
- an ability not only to train on technical subject matter but also to make it comprehensible to non-technical learners
- using technology as both an instructional tool (TIE) as well as a vehicle to promote student awareness of technology
- clearly stated instructional objectives, appropriate instructional strategies (such as blended learning) to meet those objectives, and meaningful assessments to measure relevant learning
- creating curriculum that is challenging yet entertaining, relevant to the learner's professional needs, and diverse enough to address multiple learning styles across all learners
